		The Language Awareness Campaign
		The Language Awareness Campaign is aimed at advising the parents of young children (0 to 5 years of age) as well as expectant parents, living in the Gaeltacht, of the advantages of choosing and using the Irish language as the household language and to encourage them accordingly.

Tips

Your child is unique

Each has his or her own abilities: It is best not to compare your child with anyone else
Each child grows and develops at their own pace
Have a plan, but do what feels natural to you and your family in terms of when and how you want to use different languages
It is not advisable to put pressure on your child to ‘perform’ or ‘show-off’ new words or phrases if they don’t want to: let it come from them in their own time
Reward your child for using both languages.
